Notice of Organizing The 6th International Relations Theory Innovation Seminar

Dear Fellow Researchers,

For international relations and related disciplines in China and to improve the level of innovation in theoretical research on international relations in China, the Institute of International Relations of Tsinghua University has decided to hold the 6th "Seminar on Innovation in International Relations Theory" from 7 to 8 July 2022. The following is a brief introduction of the seminar.

I. Admission Principles

The seminar is open to young teachers in colleges, post-docs, and Ph.D. students who have passed the qualifying examination in international relations and related disciplines.

II. Seminar Topics

(I) Trends in the Theory of International Relations

The seminar will analyze the development trend and research focus of international relations theory based on the papers in Chinese and foreign language academic journals in international relations and related fields in the past five years, and discuss the development direction and innovative path of Chinese international relations theory research.

(II) Practice of theoretical innovation in international relations

The results, experiences, and paths of theoretical innovation will be the core content of the seminar. The seminar will focus on "micro-foundations, causal mechanisms, and theoretical innovation in international relations", and the topics will include but are not limited to

(1) The progress and prospects of micro-level research on international relations.

(2) Microfoundations and causal mechanisms of the construction of international relations theories.

(3) New ideas/approaches to the construction of international relations theories.

The organizers will invite senior scholars and academic new talents from home and abroad to share their innovative experiences and frustrations related to the semi theme and to conduct in-depth exchanges and discussions on topics of theoretical innovation of interest to the participants. The working languages of the seminar will be Chinese and English.

III. Benefits of participation

There is no charge for the seminar, and participants are responsible for their travel and accommodation costs. Students and teachers who participate in all the activities of the seminar will be awarded a certificate of the 6th Seminar on Innovation in International Relations Theory and get free access to the latest Journal of International Political Science and the electronic version of the Chinese Journal of International Politics (CJIP).

IV. Time and Venue

The seminar will be held on 7-8 July 2022.

The venue is Liaoning Building

The organizers will determine in mid-June whether the seminar will be held online or in a combination of online and offline formats, according to the epidemic prevention and control policy and needs.

V. Registration
